Description
South Wall is to the left (upstream) of Harkor Tower. This wall has many fun climbs from a 5.11 to a 5.2 great wall for beginners to advanced. Top access is trivial, making top rope setups easy, while a variety of cracks allow for good trad practice. Due to the easy access and setup, South Wall is very popular. Plan to arrive early or to snag the spot as the early climbers tear down for lunch.
Getting There
When entering the park take the first left after the ranger station. There are two areas to park.
- Trail head: Immediately after taking the left, take a right into a parking lot with a small playground and bathrooms. From this parking lot, take the trail leading downstream, looking left towards the rock face.
- Staircase: After taking the left, drive for about a quarter mile and park in a parking spot on the right side of the road. Hike back the way you came about 100 meters and turn left into a small path in the brush. This is the top of South Wall. Take the wooden staircase down and hike the dirt path about 25 meters upstream.
The easiest way to spot South wall is by finding the massive chimney that looks up at the set of wooden stairs. To the right (downstream) is Harkor Tower. To the left (upstream) is South Wall.
