North Star Wall

California > Lake Tahoe > I-80 Corridor > Donner Summit

Description

This secluded crag holds a hand full of classics, but doesn't see much traffic, despite easy access. There are a number of excellent bolted routes and some quality trad routes as well. A couple of the best cracks (Break It Out, Black Magic) have a tendency to be vegetated due lack of traffic...give them a burn and keep them clean!

Getting There

Park as for School Rock, South Star Wall, Grouse Slabs, etc. Follow the PCT for about 5 minutes until it starts switching back up a steep, brushy hill. A trail splits left here and will bring you to the base within a couple of minutes.

This is a picture of Childhood's Beginning and Childhood's End. The obvious left dihedral holds Childhoods End 5.10d and the right dihedral holds Childhoods Beginning 5.8. At the base of Childhood's End dihedral there is a small ledge. This is the belay spot. On the right side of the small ledge there is a small crack which leads to childhoods beginning.
