Description
Grayo is a small rounded blob sitting a short ways above the trail and the stream high in Ferguson Canyon.
It doesn't look like much when you walk past it but as usual in this canyon looks are deceiving. If you're willing to brave the 30-second approach you'll find that this mini-buttress hosts a couple of good looking lines: the slabby and gritty East face is home to the namesake route Grayo while the steep West face sports an unknown 1-bolt route (project?).
The Ruckmans guidebook extends Grayo to the next chunk of rock up canyon, a complex outcrop of steep prows rising out of the stream. Another route is described there.
Getting There
Follow the Ferguson trail past all the usual attractions. The trail flattens after passing the Goldenfinger area and makes its way to the stream. Just before crossing the water and climbing a steep gravely hill, look right (South) for a short chunk of granite about 50' above the trail.
Scramble up the low angle slope to a platform at the base of Grayo.
The rest of the wall is another 100' up canyon in the stream.
