Description
Boy Scout Ledge is a short, wall sliced by vertical and horizontal cracks with a prominent pointed roof sticking out the right side. While most climbs are on the easy to moderate side, this area hosts one of the hardest rated aid climbs; Spiderman's Route (a.k.a. The Prow).
This is a good area to take newbies. You will often find groups here. Anchors consist of trees and boulders, however the Prow can accept medium size gear.
Getting There
From the West View parking lot, walk to the green trail trailhead signs. Follow this well groomed, decent graded trail a few hundred yards. You'll see Middle Earth on your right in the woods. You'll continue upward on a heart pumping rock staircase, which you'll take almost to the top. The longest flight of stairs will turn left and will place you facing Boy Scout Ledges. At this point, the railing is noticeably missing a lower section. Duck under it and walk up about twenty more yards to the base of the crag.
