I dunno how up to date the Taos Rock book is, but the 'location' descriptions for the routes here definitely aren't. Black Book is no longer the first route. We saw like 6 or 7 bolted routes and a few dirty looking gear lines starting about 40ft from the bathroom. Climbed one bolted line that felt about 5.9 but plenty of sketchy hollow holds and blocks! Nick, Glad you're ok. At the time I climbed and posted Black Book and most of the others on this wall, there weren't any bolted climbs to its right, and I'm sorry that the info I posted misled you. I've only climbed at River Wall 2 or 3 times, and not in the last 5 years. Taos Rock is over 13 years old; hopefully a new revision will be available soon. Its author, Jay Foley, had been listing new climbs on his website, but hasn't posted any updates for River Wall. If there are inaccuracies to route descriptions I posted here, let me know and I'll improve them, or the editing can be reassigned to you.

If you climbed some unlisted/unposted routes, I'd encourage you to post them, so that other people don't get confused (but I'm not local). Jun 11, 2018
