Description
Old Stone Face offers some interesting, out of the way climbing near the Cabrillo summit. There are 3 fun 5.11 routes, that can be led with trad gear, a sporty 5.12, and a few other easier options if you have the time. Anchors on top are in good shape, bring something to extend for top roping. To access for top roping, walk around the back and climb the thin hands crack, TommyHawk (~5.6). The views make this a must if you're looking for something new to try.
Getting There
Hike past all the tourists at Rockland and El Dorado and work your way to just before the summit on the main trail. When Old Stone Face is directly on your left, cut over. If you find yourself bashing through the brush, you cut over too early. Wear long pants, there's a bit of poison oak!
