DescriptionThis prominent cliff on the Wisconsin shore of the St. Croix River is the furtherest north area on the Wisconsin side of Interstate State park. This area contains a high concentration of long (by midwest standards) good quality routes, both leads and top rope problems. This cliff is often quite busy with both climbers and hikers. Getting ThereThere are two options for reaching this crag. The first is to park on the Wisconsin side. After entering the state park and passing the visitor center the road forks. Park at the parking area at this junction and take the pothole trail to the left (its a circular trail so either way works but left is by far shorter). The climbing area starts shortly after passing a wooden overlook. An alternate approach for visitors with Minnesota state park stickers is to park at the main parking area on the Minnesota side and cross highway 8 on the pedestrain bridge to the side of the roadway. Shortly after crossing into Wisconsin a trail leads off to the right. This trail eventually connects with the potholes trail and reaches the top of the cliff. It is located just to the left of Lloyd's Lament and you use the corner of the column at the base of Lloyd's Lament for the start....[more] Browse More Classics in WI
