Description
This is a two-pitch bolted sport climb that culminates on the Peñas summit ridge with views of the entire Cordillera Real and Lake Titicaca. The first pitch is long (115 feet) and has varied face climbing on good rock. The crux is about two thirds of the way up the first pitch and consists of thin face climbing. The second pitch (5.8) climbs a face and crack to the summit. One can rap the route or walk off to the northwest to gain the gully to the south. One must climb one of the routes on the Placa del Aguila to reach the base of this route. A good option is to combine this route with Un Regalo de Gringolandia or American Visa for a fun seven-pitch excursion. To descend to the base of the Placa del Aguila, make two single rope rappels from anchors located on the extreme north side of the Placa (south side of the gully).
Location
This route is located on the buttress above the gully to the right of the Placa del Aguila. It is the rightmost route on the buttress. It is necessary to climb one of the climbs on the Placa del Aguila to reach the base of this route. One can climb Un Regalo de Gringolandia or American Visa to the top and then rappel into the gully, which puts you about 50 yards from the start of the route. Or, one can climb Pasaporte Diplomatico, from which a short traversing third pitch leads to a ledge and the top rappel station next to the gully. From there, it's a short walk to the base of the route. It is also possible to climb Proyecto Lunar to the summit and then to walk down a north-facing gully that takes you to the base of this climb in about 5 minutes.
