I started mountaineering back in the days of wool and Goldline, but didn't really start technical climbing until the 90s in Seattle. Climbed mostly in the Cascades for 10 years, where I also learned to ski halfway competently, then moved to Calgary, Alberta for 9 years and learned what real alpine and ice climbing are about. Have lived in Albuquerque now for 4 years, and go to Colorado a lot (have a place in Durango). I have led the vast majority of climbs that I've done, as I mostly climbed with my wife for 15 years and she never wanted to lead (but she recently quit). I like to move fast for long periods of time. I don't sport climb, and I don't like seconding really hard stuff where I have to wait forever belaying some hardman (which explains why I'm not a better rock climber. . .). Other than that I'm up for just about anything.
