Description
This route is in the crack formed by the interface of what I am referring to as the "Knuckle" which is the shorter formation just south of the "Thumb" and the main tower or thumb. You will summit the Knuckle and this would be the first pitch for summiting the Thumb. The second pitch will be much more difficult but I believe would be an FA on the Thumb. We did not have a FA on the Knuckle. We found a single 3/8th inch bolt and quick link at the top and they climbed the crack behind the Knuckle (about 35 feet of off width). To be sure, Palmistry was never climbed before based on the amount of cleaning it needed. At the base of the Knuckle we set a belay anchor due to the narrow ledge you work from (see picture). We also set an anchor on the Thumb wall just above the Palmistry crack and adjacent (4 feet) to the second pitch crack for the Thumb (see picture). Palmistry has some poor rock quality in a few areas and this makes for sketchy gear. So these areas were sublimated with bolts. There are three of them on this line.
