Last Resort

***IMPORTANT*** As of 02/22/2025 there is a loose, triangular death block about the size of a kite down low. It creaks when you pull on the very top of it. Given all our shenanigans in exploring and climbing the route, I did manage to climb past it ~4 times without pulling it down. I hope to trundle it one day. Be careful.

I am actively seeking info on prior ascents/attempts on this route - please reach out or post below if you know anything. I find it unlikely that it hasn't been at least attempted in the past. The inspiration was mine, but the send was Patrick's. This was the first time either of us had explored virgin rock. I climbed to the crux and backed down. We then explored various ways of retrieving my gear. As a "Last Resort" Patrick decided to give it a shot and sent the (unconfirmed) FA. 

Climb the wide crack/flakes and escape left under the roof, a-la-beached-whale, and enter the face above, where you will meet the crux. Good gear is to be found at this point - as is an unprotected slab above. Proceed to the top and pick an appropriate tree to rap/lower. Patrick belayed me up from a tree to climber's right. Above this we did see potential for a second pitch. Most of the route goes at ~5.8, with the crux being a sporty move somewhere in the low 10's.

This experience gave me great respect for First Ascenders. Hopefully folks will enjoy this as much as we did.

We walked past Dead Letter Office for ~100-200 Yards. Last Resort is located ~50 yards before the white graffiti. Distances are very much guesstimates.

The crack is pretty wide down low, and I used two #4s along the way. You'll want 0.3 - 0.5 for the crux.
