Tunnel 1 closure
For more details visit: jeffco.us/open-space/alerts…
The two areas Jefferson County Open Space intends to close in Clear Creek Canyon, shown on the attached maps, encompass the active eagle nests. If the Clear Creek eagles continue to nest in the active nests, these areas will remain closed from February 1 through July 31. If the eagles choose different nesting sites, the closures will be adjusted accordingly to protect those eagles during their breeding season.
Currently, rock climbing areas that fall inside of the seasonal raptor closures include:
Blonde Formation
Bumbling Stock
Evil Area
Ghost Crag
Highlander
Skinny Legs
Stumbling Block
Tetanus Garden
Fault Caves
Description
Beautifully sculpted rock on this climb! Some intro climbing brings you to a two bolt long crux section at about mid-height. There is crimpy and powerful climbing here before heading up and right to a quick shake on a mini-jug that's really only good enough for one hand. Do not downclimb out right to the ledge, it's off. Hold it together and climb on amazing slopers to the top!
The crux is shared with Diversion Tactics, a route I climbed in 2023 that has settled in at 13d, but I think the finish of this one is a bit harder - I fell on the upper half a couple of times before sending. So, maybe it could be in the low end 14a range, time will tell.
