Description
An engaging route with four increasingly harder boulder problems characterized by steep bulges on finger pockets. The mono-finger ending is airy and makes for a solid fight to the anchors. An obvious hand sized crack through a roof at 2/3 height provides the powerful crux moves at the lip of the roof, a tricky sequence to onsight and potentially reachy. Stay close to the bolts to get the full value of this demanding pitch.
This route is named for our good friend Michelle Kranz who passed in 2023 following a climbing accident at her home crag of Eldorado Canyon. Michelle founded the Pure Grit line of custom chalk bags in 2012 and described Pure Grit "As the essence of climbing: Strength of character, determination, stamina, nerve, toughness, and indomitable spirit. Pure Grit is climbing." Michelle was pure grit.
Location
Start at a steep bulge, a body length above the ground where two close bolts protect this pumpy beginning. A large undercling makes clipping the first bolt easy if you forgot the stick clip. Adistance of 2m separates the starts between Tufun to the left and Lactic Acid Test on right, the anchor is the same height at 30m as the adjacent climbs.
