Description Suggest change

We were in The Black for a week in November 2020 when we heard about a friend's passing. This route was climbed in response to that news. It is worth doing if you have done everything else on The Checkerboard Wall.

P1.  Start by climbing up the Checkerboard Ramp. Instead of moving left into Checkerboard, continue up the ramp to a large ledge. You will see two bolts on the face that marks the second pitch, 60m.

P2. Climb a right-leaning peg band with 2 bolts. At a pin, quest up and right on another large peg band. Belay at a short, left-facing crack below a blank panel of rock, 35m, 5.10+/5.11-.

P3. Go right off the belay to a flake. Climb around the bushes, and place a #4 at the top of the flake. Traverse right TO good face holds and a bolt. 3 more bolts of face climbing leads to a belay on the right side of the wall. Save a 0.3 to protect the second after the last bolt, 35m, 5.11. Put long slings on all the bolts. The first bolt might be hard to see until you start to traverse.

P4. Climb up off the belay to a small ledge, and take it to the left. Traverse back right at a peg band, and then quest straight up the face, 50m, 5.9 R/5.10 R.
