Description
An easy and straightforward scramble of the N-NE trending ridge from the Foggy Lake Basin. Typical Cascaded class 3 ruble is to be expected.
Location
Warning: This is written up as a scramble. If you are not comfortable climbing un-roped in this sort of terrain, consider bringing a rope and small alpine rack.
1.) Drive to Barlow Pass Trailhead.
2.) Hike on Montecristo Trail (old road bed) for ~1.14 miles to the Wenden Creek/Gothic Basin TH #724.
3.) Hike ~3.17 miles up the trail to Gothic Basin and a small lake.
4.) Locate the unmaintained trail going around the left side of this small lake, follow this trial (above Foggy Lake ) to where it is obviously time to leave it and do a rising traverse to the N-NW to gain the N Ridge of Gothic Peak.
5.) Scramble/Climb the N Ridge to the summit. Careful route-finding is needed to keep this a 4th class scramble. Take great photos which can be enhanced later for posting to Instagram.
Descend the same way, or go down the easier SE Ridge. Then retrace the same way you hiked in.
6-9 hours round trip from trailhead parking.
