Warning Access Issue: Seasonal Raptor Closures ***** RAIN AND WET ROCK ***** The sandstone in Zion is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Holds rip off and climbs have been and will continue to be permanently damaged due to climbers not respecting this phenomenon. After a heavy storm the rock will remain wet, sometimes for several days. PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB IN ZION during or after rain. A good rule of thumb is that if the ground near your climb is at all damp (and not powdery dry sand), then do not climb. There are many alternatives (limestone, granite, basalt, and plastic) nearby. Description Suggest change

Head up the red slabs in a south westerly direction following the path of least resistance.  A few class 3 moves may be encountered as you zigzag your way up.  You'll eventually pass a large hoodoo with a dark brown top before reaching a flat bushy spot and the final gentle white slope that leads to the summit. The moves are no harder than class 3, but some may prefer a rope due to the exposure.  Pass a few false summit blobs to reach the middle highpoint.  Return the same way to the jughandle arch for all descents.  See the main peak page for canyoneering descent options.

The final drainage mentioned on the approach deposits you at the base of the NE flank of South Guardian.
