Description

Start on the Southeast face with your right hand in a pod under the lip and your left in a large dish, scumming your left heel. Go for the obvious pebble and continue to traverse right out to the corner for an obvious mantle topout. Note, I got the name and info from Chip Phillips' Guide but lowered the grade to a 5 instead of a 6. A 6 couldn't be justified with Eric Varney so close.

Location

This is on the Pebble Boulder, it is the face nearest to Red Wall.

Protection

Pad or two.

IMO this one of the more fun, continuously slopey (except for one hold) problems on Flag, a definite must do. -BA Feb 23, 2009
Agreed, slopers are great, especially with Flagstaff's high friction. Feb 26, 2009

Eric Varney Direct and this are totally different styles of climbing, and I think Eric Varney is a bit of a sandbag at V5. I'm going with V6 for this one. Nov 30, 2017
