Access Issue: Working Timberland Details
April 19, 2017: Weekday access to the Gold Bar boulders has now reopened following a temporary closure to ensure public safety during harvest activities associated with the Dyno timber sale. In partnership with Access Fund and Washington Climbers Coalition, DNR preserved access to much of the road network hikers and climbers use to access the Gold Bar boulders. Pad the pit and surrounding rock. A good spotter is nice on this problem. You end up committing to a horizontal move and risk cratering into the peripheral boulders.
Fantastic direct route out of the pit on the crackly cave boulder in the west forest. Start on the obvious ledge/crack and move up to a shallow crimp. Next, reach up to the smooth wedge hold and throw for the lip. Finish with a mantle over the ledge.
