Description

This is a short, pleasant TR on the W side of Southern Dinosaur Egg. It is perhaps 25-30 ft. If you're there, it's a pleasant quickie. It can be TR'ed from the same anchor as for Coming Attractions & Girls Day Out. It lies below Sneak Preview. It can probably be done a variety of ways, but it is likely soft for 5.10, the rating from Rossiter's Flatiron guide.

To approach, consider the Mesa Trail to the Bear Canyon trail. Bushwhacking up the Bear Canyon drainage past Bear Creek Spire is slightly tedious and a fair amount of poison ivy lives down there. Go to Stonehenge (with Thought Control) and angle back E toward Southern Dinosaur Egg.

Face climb up a slab just left of a line of bolts on an arête, Coming Attractions. You can wander further left to soften the grade. This may be a generous intro to 5.10. 0.89 stars.

To descend, you can downclimb 3rd or 4th class rock to the L.

Protection

long slings (at least 48_) around the horn + #4 camalot + wire to slip over the bolt

If you're splitting lichen hairs, you can find a 5.10 version staying close to the arete but not using the arete. Given the rating, this may be the path intended. Apr 6, 2004
