Description
An alternative with excellent friction on mostly small holds for the kids on this flatironette is this NE face. It lies just R of the obvious E face (4th class) route. Other mention of this route suggested a 5.3 rating. However, on repeating this little face, 5.6 seems more appropriate.
Find this little face somewhat blocked by pine branches. Smear up on high-friction slab with holds that get bigger higher up. Moving R towards the branches may reduce the technical difficulty but add to the logistical challenge to climb past pine branches. Find a single bolt on top.
Best done as a TR though it could be high-balled.
To descend, down climb the E face (4th class).
