Description

The Tree Problem sits on the uphill side of The Parking Lot Boulder, strangely enough no where near a tree. Climbing is sustained, and many approaches can get you through the problem depending on your height and finger size.

Top out over the top after 8 or so hard moves and a good rest in the middle.

Protection

Pads are nice.

i forgot to add it was also his birthday... we were really proud of him. Jul 14, 2006
When I first did this problem 10 or 12 years ago there was a tree. And if you fell on the closing moves you would hit that tree. We always wanted the tree to disappear and one day it did. One day the tree mysteriously ended up 15 feet over to the right of the boulder (car jack?). Now we have the Deforestation problem! Dec 11, 2008

Such a cool problem with great moves. Save energy for the pinch at the end. Oct 25, 2009
Great problem. Beautiful sequence with a rough but rewarding top-out. My favorite problem at Castle Rock (so far). Jul 13, 2014

A proud line and area classic. Each move gets harder than the one before.

you can fall surprisingly far back when you go for the top - bring enough pads to cover the rocky fall zone if you go for it. Oct 23, 2017

Barry Bates did the FA back sometime in the 70s. There used to be a tree there, but it went away. Dec 10, 2017
