It's not an ideal spot for a tent, I agree. But not that dangerous. For one thing there is no big snowfield or icefall above here. If it snows the worst that would come down are spindrift avalanches, usually no big deal. Rockfall is likely the biggest hazard, but Huntington is made from stellar granite so there isn't a whole lot of that. But certainly rockfall could happen.

What bothers me is ... what the heck is in the upper left of the photo? Looks really weird for a bergschrund. May 12, 2012

I don't know much about the alpine or mountaineering, but is that a terrible placement for a tent? thinking of falling rock, ice, snow, avalanches from slopes above, things like that ya know. May 12, 2012
