"Shielded Threads"

Given how easy it is to spin up a burner account and harass a thread into submission,

One way to help prevent disingenuous accounts from would be to add a lock out "shield" that prevents any accounts with less than X days of existence history and/or less than Y comments on the account.

If a thread starts getting harassed by bad actors, the thread admin could click "shield thread" instead of "lock thread".

This would result in preventing any new accounts without a modicum of credibility from engaging.

Can you give an example thread where this happened?

I'm sure there are some who would accuse me of bombarding threads as well. I definitely find the ignore feature to be lacking in efficacy.

Honestly, this kind of stuff makes me in favor of mandating govt ID's for access to a web forum profile.

It's seems its always/usually the cowards that incite the most thread drift into insanity and disingenuous bickering.

I think its time to step away from MP for a bit. You definitely don't want to get emotionally invested in anything in the forums.

There u are with the cowards accusation. It’s losing its meaning at this point.

Wanting people to upload government id for verifying their identity for a climbing website is a wild take. Didn’t know u wanted the USA to be like Russia or china but okey doke artichokey

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
