Anyone know the status of Black Mountain right now? Kaya app says it’s closed due to a fire, can anyone confirm this? I’m gonna call the ranger station tomorrow before I head out, but wanted to see if anyone knew anything.

Yep, the Wolf fire is about 2,400 acres, 40% contained per watchduty.org

I was up at Tahquitz Sunday afternoon when it started and the smoke filled the mountains quick. 243 was still closed the last I saw

Is it still safe to climb up there you think?

Personally I'd plan to go elsewhere given the proximity

Ah yeah that’s a little too close for comfort, much appreciated!

bumping this. anyone got an update on conditions at black? It appears the wolf fire is contained but still burning, while now the rosa fire is burning nearby. never had an air quality issue last week while i was up at tram, and Jon King is reporting air quality on the mountain in general is "improving" but would be interested to know if anyone has been to Black personally recently.

Its open! Road is in fine condition, made it up in my Crosstrek. Not smokey or anything up there either. Was hot this weekend but hopefully will cool down soonish!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
