What forums / apps / websites are the main choice for other countries?

US has a lot of good information on MountainProject, but a lot of other countries don't seem to. I'm curious what the forums/apps/websites of choice are for other world class climbing countries? It seems that Australia uses thecrag.com, for example. I see 8a.nu being floated for europe, but not sure if that's the app of choice. Curious about: South America, Europe, Canada (still mountainproject?), South Africa, South-East Asia, Japan, North Africa, Oceania (I assume this is thecrag.com but maybe that's not true) |

I've never been to font, but https://bleau.info/ seems amazing. Also a lot of people in the PNW use Sendage instead of Mountain Project for bouldering |

https://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/ has some good stuff. I used thecrag.com for S Africa & Europe. Pretty comprehensive. Not sure about Asia. Edit: thecrag has an app called topo guru. I haven't used it yet but it looks like you're gonna have to pay to use the app without internet. |

TheCrag is probably the best English-language site for Asia (especially SE Asia). Depending on where you go, a lot of places in SE Asia will have good English-language guidebooks available for sale once you get there. I’ve heard Japan and South Korea have lots of beta on like microblogs and regional websites but it’s hard to find if you don’t speak the language. I’ve talked to Koreans who also use 27Crags for bouldering but not sure how widespread that is. Canada (at least BC) is mostly MP. |

For Japan. Haven't climbed there but hope to in the future |

For Font, bleau.info is great. |

Technically OpenBeta is global, although their primary focus is US. Jacob, hopefully we'll get more Canadian crags up. I'm doing my best in Southern Ontario, hah! They also have an app in beta, currently. Might be open beta now? Get it? har har har. |

Daniel Saffordwrote: App & info are free but will not be accessible if you don't have internet where you're climbing. Topo guru geolocation is good, it's supposed to guide you to the crag if you have the info downloaded. I'm about to use it in Australia next month. I'll report back. Before I saw the app, I was able to download crag/route info off of thecrag.com on to my phone. Worked almost as well as a guidebook with some limitations. |

I am trying to find climbing partners in France and Germany. Any suggestions for a partner finding forum for these countries? FB France climbing forum is for Paris and super limited from what I can tell. Thanks! |

Here for France : https://forum.camptocamp.org/c/partenaires/partenaires-escalade-sae/95 , all other french communities are on Whatsapp. |

New Zealanders seem to use thecrag.com, and the NZAC maintains climbnz. Personally, I find MP superior to sites like thecrag. It works about as well as MP for finding a route, etc., but it really falls down when you're trying to see just recent beta or updates, or if someone has an improved description etc. MP is much better in how it separates comments/ticks/discussions. I think there are some changes to MP that could make it more widely used by the rest of the world:
Anything else? Any MP developers reading this? |

Alistair Veitchwrote: I agree, not a fan that USA is the "default" and everything else is lumped into "international". I guess it's primarily used here and Canada so I get it though. I like the mtn project interface a lot so I wish it could be more internationally used |

Oops. Forgot about this. I downloaded the crag info before I left, I also got a mobile plan through airalo but the geolocation function wasn't very helpful. Luckily the trails are clearly marked so we didn't waste too much time getting lost. The interface for the app wasn't very intuitive either, had to click multiple times to get where I wanted to go (I am 50y/o so factor in some digital illiteracy). I ended up canceling my premium membership after my month was up. |
