Can someone please help me and explain where I can get my permit, if it needs approved, do I need to be 18, does it cost money, who knew about permits for filming on devils tower, where can I get it, when I should get it, and how do I do it. I plan on climbing devils tower in 7 days so if someone can help me with this it would be appreciated

My dude, take a breath! Permit is via self-registration on the trail to the tower. Free, no need to do it beforehand. Are you filming for commercial purposes? If not, you don’t need a permit. Just don’t fly a gd drone around regardless. Park apparently closes now, and is open from 7a-5p. There’s another thread about that.

Sorry for coming back, but I must not understand what the term “commercial use” means. If I took photos and videos and uploaded them to a social media does that fall under commercial use as someone can look at it as me trying to profit from a post? Would I need a permit or am I still good without one?

Sorry I shouldn’t have added that confusing language in my original post! No, you’re fine! You don’t have an intent to sell anything- goods, services, otherwise. You aren’t making a Reel Rock type film that has sponsors and all that junk or anything.

And all that junk or anything would include someone who has a uraboob channel or similar and makes money from it (such as so called social media influencer). In other words, you don't need a permit unless you are doing something that will make money.

considering just typing devils tower climbing permit into google gives you the exact answer you're looking for I'm not sure this guy( who sounded like they were in a full panic) has the wits to get up the tower.. will he even find the parking lot and visitor center? time will tell.

Partial guide to the Visitor Center: Just past the Curios Stand--- Go thru the Gate--- (between 7am & 5pm, temporarily) Drive slowly past the FEMA Prairie Dog Village--- Wander thru Tulgey Wood--- Stay on the paved road, unless you need shelter at The Lodge--- Stop at the Cafe, eat inside if the weather looks rough--- Enjoy your experience
