Rope walking- vergo?

Interested in experimenting with various systems, and don’t want to spring for the full taz lov yet. The vergo seems like a good candidate with applications beyond just ropewalking- farther down the line, trs, etc. especially with the recent bit about the *cinch* failing, which it has been known to do- see sudden drop epidemic- I’m wondering about relying on the vergo. Anyone know if it’s reliable? Seems they’ve fixed it, and the straight rope path is attractive.

I love my vergo and have had no issues with it. It operates differently than the grigri and takes some getting used to but the straight rope path makes feeding slack smooth and makes it a viable trs device. I've yet to hear of a story about the vergo (not cinch) failing for any other reason than defeating the can. For trs, there are def better devices but it works fine with the right setup (skinny rope, lanyard, etc).

Rope path through the vergo isn’t straight, it has a little bend. Yes, it works for rope walking but I would say it’s optimal. You’ll notice you have to encourage it a little to lock on a weighted rope. I think all belay devices, even the new sulu, will have this drawback since they are designed to be able to pay out slack, unlike PCDs

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
