Rust deposits on new SS wedge bolts

Hi guys, I've noticed some of my bolts placed this season have some minor rusting on the bolt or the nut. I've heard non-stainless hammers can deposit material on bolts and cause some rusting. This is the hammer I use.

Is this something to worry about or superficial? Any fixes?

It's transfer from using a carbon steel hammer, I don't consider it a major concern.

Yea I've seen that thread and it's giving me some slightly conflicting views. For one, this isn't a 'high corrosion' environment and these bolts have only been placed for a couple months.

From my understanding, this is considered pitting corrosion and online articles say it can spread deep with little surface sign.

Maybe try removing it with stainless steel wool.

Citric acid, use lemon juice.

These were soaked in distilled white vinegar and scrubbed with a brass brush. I didn’t have the lemon juice Jim recommended so I went with another mild acid.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.

Fixed Hardware: Bolts & Anchors
