I'd like to buy a pair of La Sportiva Katakis. Unfortunately it does not appear that they are stocked anywhere in the US. Does anyone have a thought about where I could get a pair of 44.5 Katakis shipped to the United States? Oliniud is out of my size unfortunately.

i’ve got a pretty bad feeling… the Italian sportiva website shows katakis as discounted (which I notice they seem to do when about to discontinue a model) and out of most sizes… fingers crossed they just are waiting another production run or a color reboot but I think they may be gone for good :(

My understanding is they are killing the Katakis in favor of the 'women's' Katana lace.

As to why they would kill one of the best shoes made, I have no idea. It really seems like climbing brands love doing this.

RIP my favorite trad shoe of all time. Be advised that Katakii run a half size big compared to old-style Katanae.

I'm comparing to my Otakis which are a perfect fit at 44.5. They should be similar, no?

And yes, I was hoping to get a pair for the fall at Devils Lake. I love the way my Otakis fit and these seemed like a version of those optimized for single pitch vertical trad climbing. It's a shame it may not work out. I might suck it up and try a pair of 44s.

I loved the Kataki and got several pairs from Europe. The Scarpa Vapor S, personally used with the strap removed, is an excellent alternative that is maybe even better at thin crack climbing

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
