Hello all. New to app. Found "Dennet Lake Bluffs" and wanted to comment, asking current conditions and who's going there regularly. How do I do that?
in writing this, I might have found my answer: you can't! .. "Lock Topic: As the creator of this topic, you can lock it and prevent further replies. " Why would someone do that with a little known area, like Dennet, that's overgrown and NEEDS climbers to keep it open?
Current conditions and who's going someplace type questions belong in the regional or partner finder forums, not in comments for areas or routes.
That said, no, comments are not locked for the area you mentioned. I'm logged in to the MP site, on my phone, though, not on the app. So it could be that simple, just the app vs the site.
Comments can only be added to area pages like Dennett Lake Bluffs and subsequent route pages through the web version of Mountain Project. They are then viewable in the app but you can't add new ones in the app.
Comments for route or area pages must be defined by one of three types: Lost or Found Item, Temporary (Condition report, upcoming event, etc.), or Beta / Personal Opinion. Lost/Found and Temporary comments are both removed after 30 days and 90 days respectively.
The "Lock Topic" option is exclusively for new forum threads as more of a bulletin board-type of announcement where further discussion or replies aren't necessary.
As Helen mentioned, starting a new forum topic in the Pacific Northwest Regional Forum might be the best way to connect with other folks about Dennett Lake Bluffs, specifically.
