Well then there are a lot of trad climbs here in Idaho that are incorrectly referred to as mixed routes

The solution to restore the YDS system to the way God and Plato intended it, and thus bring climbing back into harmony with the universe, is quite simple.

Let 5.15d become the new 5.9. Then work backwards.

This is genius!!  I believe that this would make 5.13c equal 5.0, no?  So, 5.13b/8a would be 4th Class, or essentially technical hiking. Perfect!!!

Actually, may I suggest a minor tweak. Make 5.15d equal 5.9+. Then technical climbing can start at the 8th grade (French), which aligns the scales nicely. :-)

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
