Curious if anyone has dealt with what seems like allergic reactions on their hands after climbing?
I’ve been climbing for a few years, and haven’t had this issue in the past.
My chalk has stayed consistent for years (same exact bulk bag). I recently started to use Joshua Tree Salve but stopped using it to see if that was the cause. It wasn’t, issue remained after stopping that.
The only other thing I can think of is an unusually strong and long lasting allergy season?
Does anyone else get rash’y hands after climbing during seasonal allergy times??

My experience may not apply to you but I have atopic dermatitis and have always been sensitive and have allergic reactions to many things. Is the rash on all sides of your hands or just on the palms or the sides that touch the rock/rope or the dorsal side that might be more exposed to stuff in the air or sunscreen? I've never used chalk primarily because my hands don't sweat (when and where I do sweat I usually get hives) and my skin tends to be too dry. I am allergic to nylon and other textiles and have to belay/rappel with gloves (non-leather), I only can wear cotton or polyester.
It could still be the salve since that seems like the only thing that's different. (I just looked up the ingredient list and I am allergic to almost every ingredient listed!). When you said it wasn't that because you stopped, sometimes the rash will last long after the trigger is removed. What I was told decades ago by an allergist is that I first had to clear my skin (e.g. steroids, Benadryl) and when the rash/hives is gone and skin is clear, then I introduce suspect allergens one by one and see which elicits a reaction.
