Have the first 2 weeks of April off and am wondering how conditions are for climbing the volcanoes in the area? Coming from Alberta and with current gas prices don’t want to make the trip unless conditions are good. Thanks
The volcano’s are stacked up high. Conditions change daily. You could get a week of high pressure or be sitting at the base in white out, or it could be raining to 10,000’. You’ll need to watch the forecast as it gets close. Trying to predict conditions now is just a crap shoot.
FWIW I’ve summited Rainier on April 1st in stellar conditions, but it was a short window and living close by made it easy. Planning a volcano trip is usually a May to early July timeframe to have a bit more reliable weather. Even then you’re rolling the dice.
