Testarossa sizing

Hey all, I know there are quite a few threads related to this, but I have a specific question for testarossa owners. I wear 43 in Miuras (bit uncomfortable), 43.5 in TC Pro (stretched out to need socks), and am trying 43 -44 in the new testarossa's. All of them are extremely tight on the big toe. The amount of slack in the heel cup varies with the size obviously, but although the 44 is super tight on big toe, it has over 1/4" of empty heel space. None of them really feel anymore comfortable than the other. So.....my question is....is the pain due entirely to the slingshot rand pushing the foot forward and will the rand soften/stretch to allow the heel to move back into the heel cup more and lessen the toe pain? At this point I can wear all sizes pretty much I definitely if just sitting around, but standing on my toes on an edge.....cringe worthy language producer. Cheers Steve Elder |

Sounds like you need to try a different brand of shoe that fits your feet better. |

Gotta say, I am not convinced that the new testarossa is an improvement on the old version. It’s taken me months to properly break them in and there is still a degree of insensitivity in the toe area that I wouldn’t want to see in a high end shoe. The heel fits me well tho YMMV obviously. It’s too bad as it seems that Five Ten (used to be my go-to) is minimizing options on high performance laced shoes and I haven’t seen any super compelling models from anyone else |

I think the design of the shoe is just extremely tight on the big toe. I’m in almost an identical scenario to you- I had a pair of Miuras in 39.5 that I had resoled 3 separate times. I absolutely loved those shoes, they fit perfectly. When they finally died, I replaced them with a pair of Testarossas also in 39.5. They were (and still partially are) painfully tight. I somewhat naively assumed that the sizing would be similar because it’s the same brand, however I could probably wear a 40.5 and be fine with them. This is coming from someone that prefers a tighter shoe in general, even a tiny bit of slop bothers me. |

Yeah you might as well size down until the heel is locked on, the toe isnt going to feel any different unless you upsize until they are baggy. Thats the design of the shoe. I generally prefer really tight shoes but I never made it 1/4 way through the Testarossa rubber before I sold them on here. That toe box was too much. You might want to try the Solution Comp, its got a similar heel but a more forgiving toe box. |

I'd stick to the 43 or 43.5. I wear a 45 in the Futura and TC Pro. Out of the box, Testarossas in a 45 were absurdly painful. (So painful that I was convinced they must have been mislabeled or badly manufactured because they were so much tighter than my other LS 45s; I actually returned them and got another pair in 45, which was just as tight). I almost gave up on them since they're not manufactured any larger than 45, but am glad I didn't. After about 10 sessions, they've stretched to the point where they fit almost identical to my Futuras/TC Pros (maybe just a tiny bit tighter, but not much). |

I wanted to do a couple of follow-ups on this topic to hopefully help others in the future. I went with the 43.5 size and wore them around the house a bit. Then on my training wall a bit, then several pitches outside. They are certainly tight, but fit well and are great shoes. I believe they will be perfect with another few days on them. I'll report back in a few months. Cheers. |

Steve Elderwrote: Hey Steve, how did you find the shoes after.a while? I'm trying to decide right now if I should return my new Testarossas or try to break them in. I wear 43s in the Miuras and 43.5 in TCs, which are perfect, but the 43 Testarossos are ridiculously painful out of the box. It sounds like they do break in some after a lot of suffering? |

Andy Bwrote: This is so weird because I can wear 41 in the Testerossa but can’t comfortably fit into 42 in Muira! I also wear 42 in the TC. As an update to my previous post, the new model is sized about 1/2 up from the previous. My experience with the previous model in 41 was too painful, but recently saw a pair of used 41 in the new design for sale on here. I took a chance on them and they fit perfect. |

The old ones are quite different from the new Testarossa’s, unlike what La Sportiva is saying. I used to have size 41.5 in the old model, went down to 40.5 in the new ones. I have a regular shoe size 43-43.5. |
