Hi friends, I'm looking into climbing at Isolation Canyon but have never been before. Is there anything specific to know before going that's not found on MP or in a guide book? Also, I've been checking the forest fire maps and I think everything looks okay for now. Has anyone been there recently that could give some insight? Thanks :)

MP instructions are pretty good. As long as you can find the creek crossing, the rest of the path is marked. The main wall is not good for kids or dogs. If you don’t have a high clearance vehicle it adds a good amount of distance to the approach, but is still doable.

From the 2WD parking lot the approach takes me about 45 min. I was glad to go with someone who had been before, but if you've researched it I'm sure you're fine.

Stay away from the trailer parked in the lot, heard there used to be a guy living there who was somewhat territorial.

Like Ethan implied, the ledge that runs along the bottom of the main wall gets pretty skinny at times, so just don't fall off the edge. Iso is one of my favorite places to climb, both trad and sport. Have fun!!
