Using a dyneema sling or technora cord as a funkness

This weekend I successfully used the 4-5mm accessory cord teather on my hammer as a funkness in a pinch, but it got me thinking...

Has anyone used a Dyneema sling as a funkness? I have a heavy cable funk but it would be much lighter, rack smaller, and I will stop donating blood from the frayed wire rope, if I could just use a dedicated sling...

Does dyneema still have too much stretch?

How about the 5.5mm Bluewater Titan (Technora) cord? Single length with a loop at each end versus tied into a circle/sling ?

If anyone has experience with this please let me know.

Thanks,

Nick

I haven't actually used a cable funkness for years, though I haven't actually done a real nailing aid climb in even longer.  Most of the nailing I do is while establishing free routes or alpine climbing and carrying a cable funkiness seems way over kill so I just use an old beat up sling.  Works just fine for that usage.

Dyneema has about 1% elongation at 30% breaking strength, vs ~0.5% for wire rope. Nylon/poly ranges ~6-12%

So I guestimate it's half as funky as steel, ten times funkier than nylon - given similar strength cords

Funk not only moves, it can re-move

Yeah have been using a sling for years and it’s been fine. Still going strong actually. I just use it for rebolting and such, so no heavy nailing.
