Powell River / Eldred Valley Beta

I'm headed up to Powell River this week, planning on skipping straight through town to be covid safe, and staying in the Eldred valley until it starts raining. I'd love to do some climbing, but this is mainly a scouting mission as I'll be with a friend who is still learning to climb and don't think it would be wise to commit to any crazy big wall expeditions.

I'll be picking up the "Powell River Rocks" book, but don't have my hands on it yet. If anyone has beta or recommendations on the climbs, hikes, camping area, *anything* really, I'd love to hear you out.

So far I've found https://powellriverrock.wixsite.com/cadmc/copy-of-home to be a good source of information. Most blogs and personal accounts I've found are older unfortunately.

Thanks a bunch!

Hey, I've been interested in this area and would love to hear about your trip.  Unfortunately, I don't have anymore information than you do but if I hear of anything I will let you know.  Have fun and be safe!

The climbing is good. Bring a full sized spare tire. I got 2 flat tires back there!

There are grizzly bears, no joke. Proper food storage is a must. Definitely don't be on those roads during work hours, the logging trucks are crazy.

Some of the climbing in Powell River itself is also certainly worth checking out

Enjoy! Powell River and the Eldred are special places!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
