Wondering what camping options are available with the Lilly Pad campground being closed until the fall. I noticed a sign for camping at the junction up the road from the overlook and heard Del mention that someone had opened their land up- does anyone have any more info?

check closer to Wratburg:  Frozen head state park, big cove, or rock creek.  none of which are as perfect an option as drinknig beer at the Pad and crashing in you tent 100ft away.  but it is what it is.

Del's friend has a field pretty close by, super nice guy that allows camping for 10 dollars a person per night; he is the one that put up the camping sign next to the Lilly Bluff. There is a portapotty and 5 dollar firewood with firerings, he also has a spout for water. Overall, not the prettiest spot, but definitely the most convenient, I would definitely camp there again.

Edit: he owns a bunch of cows, who will MOO a ton in the morning, also 3 dogs will randomly come up for pats and chill by the camp all night, would not recommend camping there if you hate dogs.

Address is 259 AJ Ames Rd. Lancing, TN 37770

I grew up around there and know of some local fishing/camping spots downriver a ways. They're not necessarily regulated but they're gorgeous spots right on the river and about a 10-15 min drive to south clear. Message me if you're interested and I'll give you the details. Be prepared for local fisherman and beer drinkers. Otherwise, rock creek is also a very good place to camp.

There's primitive camping in the wild and scenic also.

Is it easy to find a pull off spot in the park? We are just looking for a spot to park the van and pull out our awning if possible but I have never been to the Obed before. Also wondering how crowded it has been? Thanks!

to get to Del's buddy's site just drive across the river and keep going.  white "camping ->" signs will direct you right there.  its a big wide open flat grassy field with a porta-john and a rack of firewood.  a van driving in should be easy.  lilly pad for food and beer then drive then drive the 2ish miles to campsite.  not as perfect as being able to stumble to your tent at the lilly pad but take what you can get.  we looked around the lilly bluff overlook parking lot for some spots to put a tent.  it's pretty dense woods close to the lot and you need to be 100'-200' in I think
