Climbing in the Ruby Mtns?

I’m losing my mind here in California. I’m in a rural foothill town with minimal Covid issues but we are part of the statewide lockdown regardless. I’m self employed and up until three weeks ago life was fine. Now I’m probably going to lose everything so I may as well go into the wilderness before I do. Thinking about going to the Ruby Mountains. Does anyone know if there is climbing there? Thinking about the month of May.I want remote crags. Not red rocks or anything like that in Nevada so I thought of the Rubies. I know there’s hiking but are there any small or secret-ish crags? I have all the gear and lead sport and trad. I’m a lifetime outdoors person. Very comfortable in backcountry.

I think people are climbing but no one wants to talk about so do your research and do what you have to to survive

No one wants to share “secret” crags on a forum like this. It’s destroying any sense of escape and solitude. I agree with the above comment. Personally though I would try and not lose everything... stay put and figure it out. Worry about climbing later.

Probably best not to get sick or injured while you’re there. Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital in Elko is a money grubbing hell hole according to the vast majority of people who seek treatment there. Google it.

Edit: Candid testimonials from hospital staff describe a toxic work environment and doctors out of touch with modern medical science and treatments. This would seem to lend some credibility to the overwhelmingly negative patient reviews.

Thanks for the rural hospital tip Mick. I just turned 49 so I climb very conservatively outside. Well within my abilities. Plus I'm self-employed in a physical job so no getting hurt for me. Well, I was self-employed.

Colby, My assumption is someone would dm me if they had an out of the way crag, not post locations on MP that aren't already here.

I agree about NNRH. They'll kill you for twice the price. I live in Elko.

The problem with the rubies is they're covered with snow, and low crags below big mountains can see rock fall as long as there is melt off going on above. The season is pretty late, about when it gets roasting hot, then extends into fall. There is an old guidebook, but it is pretty hard to find your way with it, and pretty hard to find as well.

I know some places in rural NV to climb...

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
