Planning to travel to Barcelona over the holiday's, and looking for a guide to take me up Montserrat. Can anyone recommend a guide service to contact?

Tell Marc I sent you. I climbed with him in Montserrat last summer, and am climbing with him again later this month.

Happy to answer any Qs you have.

Google Jordi “Toti” Vales and BarcelonaClimb.com. Toti was the coach for the Spanish national team some years back, very safe and knowledgeable, great guy, speaks English, and will get you to a comfortable crag based on temps, cloud cover, winds, your personal level, etc.

FYI...This time of year, some of the most classic routes up high on the mountain, and especially on the north side, will be a bit too cold and windy to be at all enjoyable—unless you get an unusually calm and warm day. Typically, we are climbing on the south side of Montserrat or the Agulles area during the winter. Again, Toti will find something interesting for you for sure. After all, they say there are something like 4,000 routes on Montserrat... Have fun!

Would any of you like to climb together or split the cost of a guide sometime between Dec 28 and Jan 02? I’ll be in the area and would be down to check out one of the many crags in the area for sport or multipitch.

Also, anyone have recommendations for the most enjoyable via ferratas in the area for climbers?

Try this via ferrata: deandar.com/en/ferratas/via…

You can get to Sant Feliu and back by bus from Barcelona. The via has one loop that is suitable for first-timers (with maybe one challenging for beginners crux), and a second loop that is steeper and a bit more fun for us climbers. It's right on the coast, so pretty cool--and popular. Avoid a weekend if you can.

I’ll be in the area from December 30-8th.  My girlfriend and i will not have any sport climbing gear with us, but will have our shoes, chalkbag, and harnesses.  We’d love to do some single pitch sport climbing around Montserrat.  She climbs around 5.10-11 and I’m climb mostly 5.11 to 5.13-.  Also interested in bouldering at el cogul or con boquet.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
