It's a fallacy to assume that there is ANY safety factor built into the specifications for quick links. Maillon Rapide, a reputable manufacturer, publishes their design factor as 5:1. A no-name, hardware store grade quicklink has no manufacturer's stamp, so a design factor of 1:1 must be assumed.
