Rope Storage - Help!

I am going to invest in a new 9.8mm Petzl rope sometime soon as I have a pro deal that is going to run out- however, I'm leaving for Peace Corps service in Peru and will be gone for 2 years. I may end up bringing gear with me, but in case I decide to store it here in the US some recommendations would be helpful. I was planning on keeping it coiled in an air-conditioned basement- should I see about periodically having it recoiled while I'm away?

Any and all input appreciated!

I doubt you'll need to recoil it. Even if it retains some memory a good flaking session should straighten it up.

M'eh...

I own 12 ropes.

Each one is in a rope bag. Coiled?  Flaked?  I don't know.  I don't care.

Said rope bags are in various spots throughout my house.

It will be fine, but why invest in something you won't be able to use for two years? When you get back, find a deal on a new rope and you'll get 2 years worth of whatever new rope developments there may be, 2 more years of keeping your money in your pocket, and zero chance of anything happening to a stored rope.

How many cams though? I remember that pic; it’s my wallpaper.

Not including the ones in my "museam", over 300 cams.

LOL!

Yeah, I did kinda go overboard...

On the bright side though, I am one of the very few people who can go to Indian Creek and do almost every climb without having to borrow cams!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
