Falling on a Traverse

I've been searching like crazy for an answer to my question but couldn't find any forums detailing what to do in this situation.

When attempting to redpoint a traverse pitch, how does one get back to the belay after a fall like when Tommy and Kevin were on pitch 15 of the Dawn Wall?
I've been very curious and searching everything I can think of with no luck. Any help would be much appreciated!

Climb back to the belay. Or you could prussik/jumar back if you fell before placing anything, although try not to do that. You might also be interested in doing a lower-out which you can find information about from an aid climbing information source online.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
