Kineo

Does anyone know how Kineo is looking?
Does any easy ice reliably form?
What is the best local resource for checking conditions?

If anyone wants to check it out this winter let me know, I have access to a cabin 20 minutes away from the base and could even scare up some snowmobiles to get us there.

Are there a lot of routes on kineo? MP only has one. Looks awesome I had no idea this cliff even existed

Also fist bump for being named Forrest. Not many of us around.

I can't imagine there are a lot of established routes, but it's pretty huge and cold so it seems like there would be some potential to screw around.

check out North Woods Aerial on Facebook, he posted a video on Dec 12 with drone shots and close ups of Mainline, WI5ish. Looks really good

Did Maine Line in the mid / late 90s. At that time there was some lodge or something stayed open and you could call and ask if there was “ice” on Mt Kineo. It still took three tries before getting it done. First time it really wasn’t “in” - second time we actually were the second party to show up(!) and didn’t want to be behind anyone and yep - third time charm!

I’m sure there’s something like that you could do now too! 

Thanks all for the info! I followed a trail for several phone calls, but it went cold at the end unfortunately. The best I got is "there is no ice on Kineo right now" but no one could think of a place or person who would have any consistent beta. In any event, I'm game to check it out if anyone wants to join at some point this winter.
