Private mountain project areas?

Hey guys,

Just wondering if there is a way to make a mountain project area, but keep it private, only sharing it with certain people?

Like I want to contribute an area, but first I want to work on it/share it with the other developers before making it public, anyway to do that?

Isn't MP about sharing info?

Yah I fully intend to share it publicly eventually. I just think it would be helpful while we're adding info and stuff like that if we could all work on it before it goes public. Each one of us has pockets of info about FA's, protection, exact location, route grades, etc. and I feel like I have an obligation to get this all right before sharing it publicly. Nowadays, it's hard to get everyone in the same room so I just thought it might be an easy way to collaborate. We could always start an email chain etc. but I was just curious if this option was available as it would be far easier for everyone involved.

If you really want it to be private, just make a guide book and pass it around your circle of friends.

There's a section of the website titled "in progress" where you can upload and organize a whole section. When you're finished you have to ask an administrator to move it to the correct section of the website, whatever state/area/crag your new routes/areas are in. Since not many people know what they'd be looking at, most people won't see it although it's technically still public. This would be a good way to do what you describe and have multiple people work on an area. For this to work, I think it has to be an entirely new area rather than adding to an additional section. As in, a new crag at an existing area rather than adding new routes to an existing crag.

Here is the link with the instuctions on who to PM about moving it once it's set up.

You want it private, don't put it on the Proj.

You could have private sections, get in either by invite or by posting a request. Like Facebook has with private groups.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
