Hi,
My partner and I made a serious of dumb decisions and decided to bail last night on the third flatiron. We thought we were 2 pitches up but were actually 3 so it took us 6 raps to get down and a lot of gear left behind. Some wallnuts and DMM offsets, slings and biners. We definitely should have just kept going up but mistakes were made. I'm not expecting anything back but if you come across it and are feeling kind, please message me!

What route did you attempt? Glad you got down safely, in any case.

It was just the standard route and my first attempt at multipitch trad leading unfortunately. I left a lot of gear to make sure we were safe.

Direct East Face is pretty much the standard route. Eye bolts on the first pitch? Was that your first Flatiron route? There's some shorter formations that are good for getting your sea legs up there.

Yeah it was the direct east face. I've solo'd the second a couple times and followed the first. I think we would have been fine if we started nice and early but it got dark and my partner ended up dropping his headlamp and we decided to bail.
Glad to hear you got down ok. Sorry about the gear. I was thinking about heading out for a scramble tonight if I can get out of work with enough light left...if I see any of it, I'll give you a shout for sure.

Update: a friend of mine scrambled up this morning and it sounds like he got everything. Thanks everyone!
