I've been building and selling some ice axes. They are all of my own design and built up from scratch. I wanted to post some photos (these are all sold) and see if anyone here had an interest in them

LIKE!!!!!  Old fat guys with bad knees like me have some wood handled versions stacked up unused in the basement. Need no more now. Beauties man, good luck with the sale.

Cool!! It pains me every time I open the doors of the flagship REI and see those beautiful vintage ice axes used as door pulls

I applaud your ambition, overall finish is crude at best. However I am pretty critical of what I hand off as a finish product when hired to build such items.

Being your generation 1, you have lots of room for improvement. What are build details?  4130? Ash handle?  Heat treated at all?

I applaud your ambition as well.  But unlike tony m, think the overall finish is awesome. They are beautiful.  Nice work Caleb!

There's a guy on the east coast who made a pair of legit oak ice tools a la petzl nomic - far before kronos (which are also rad). If you google around, I'm sure you'll find photos. Might be good inspiration for you!

Sounds like you're talking about Rolando's tools:

Wow that's what I was looking for! There's any blade like the first one I could buy? I'd love woodworking so I'd love to make the rest

Looks awesome Caleb. Have you been able to use them on any of your personal objectives? I’ve sewed myself some small gear and I always feel cool when I can actually use the stuff I made  on my trips.

You can get a pair of Grivel X Monster picks (it's the whole top of the tool) and add your own shaft.

I could but I'm just a mountaineer, not an ice climber, so I wouldn't use a banana shaped blade, I need a classic pick wich has at least a 4"tang.. but thank you anyway

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
