Possible move to AZ

I've lived all over the western US, and currently live in PHX. I don't like the climbing much at all, and would prefer Tucson by a fairly large margin from a climbing stand point. Thank goodness I'm moving again before the heat returns this year. Good luck!

Not trying to argue but considering that the interstate junctions in Phoenix are under two hours away from Tucson, what is an extra two hours to drive for a multi-day trip?

Lol, no wonder I haven't seen Geir in ages ..gone abbo..

Anyway, Tucson sucks. The climbing community is cliquey and unfriendly, the cost of living is stratospheric, and there are constant lines and crowds at some of the more classic crags, like the Teenage Turtle Wall.

There are two gyms now, but the route setters are a bunch of sandbaggers who constantly undermine my fragile ego.

They seemed friendly enough when I broke my ankle at Prison Camp. Wasn't a nice day out so maybe the jerks stayed at home.

I wouldn't mind another gym that had way more than Rocks and Ropes more because Pipeworks in Sacramento spoiled me.

Daryl Allan wrote: Careful with that one. He doesn't actually live in Tucson. He lives in a small cave west of the San Escarabajo mountains and lives off of tree bark and moth larvae. He communicates in short muffled grunts and bleats but once you have some context, it's not hard to figure out what he's trying to say. Bring climbing gear for payment and avoid eye contact. If you do feed him, do so from a flat, face-up palm (don't curl your fingers). Wear muted colors - nothing bright or shiny and no sudden movements (raised-arm gestures, etc). This all may seem tedious but it's very well worth the effort. He's a remarkable, accomplished climber and can teach you volumes about arid climate survival.
Hahahahahahaha Daryl!! I about choked myself laughing at this one!!
