Good sources to research logistics & planning of the Arrigetch?
AAC library, annual reports, topos? Good books to recommend. Etc.

Also a gob of references there. The AAJ's are online and searchable and the TR's fairly useful for planning.

We circumnavigated the Arrigetch back in 1988 or so. Gnarly country and something I wouldn't do again in July (skeeters were unreal). Flew in with Brooks Range Aviation who I'd recommend.

There's been a few TR's and info on the 'taco too, if you haven't seen.

I think if I remember, you guys had tried some around the wrangell/St elias. The bush pilots I talked with around yakutat were kinda leary now due to a couple of bad accidents. I thought those mtns were intimidating as hell, so I can see their point on the fly in, also said the rock quality kinda sucks and warming been destabilizing the seracs.

Anyway, when you guys hit around the Arrigetch, do you remember having one or two lines that kinda stuck out as pretty cool? Was thinking of that ridge and maybe a wall on Xanadu, if the rock is worth a shit or not.

Yeah, Kurt, our favorite pilot in Yakutat (he flew us into Logan and St. Elias), died picking up overdue clients on Kennedy. So did one of the folks I flew with in Talkeetna. Tough business.

We honestly didn't get that close to the rock climbing...as we stuck to the river bottoms for easier travel. So, never really got a gander at individual lines, but, mostly peaks off in the distance. I think we flew in to near the same spot as folks do for the approach up into the area, though. The moose at the end of the lake (pond) we landed in was by far the biggest land mammal I've ever seen in person...

Neat, wild and wooly area! I did appreciate having a 12 gauge, and, the bonus of going up in mid summer, it never gets dark...

Looks like that wall on Xanadu might see a solid attempt this year judging from the Mugs Stump blip in Alpinist.

anyway, hopefully to see some cool shit there over the next few years. The rock & snow climbs look a hell of a lot more fun than a denali slog
