Beginner Bouldering areas on Front Range
|
Hey guys, I was hoping to get some recommendations on some areas with a decent amount of problems in the V0-V3 Range, that are not high balls. I live in Boulder so looking for spots within a 45 min drive or so. I hear Horsetooth in Ft. Collins is nice, but that's a little far. I've checked out Flagstaff, but there don't seem to be very many beginner friendly problems there and the ones in the range I mentioned are mostly high balls, which I'm trying to stay away from. |

Look at Carter Lake. Not as far as Fort Collins and has a lot of problems in the range you're looking for. |

Morrison Boulders and Three Sisters both have lots of problems in this range, just a little closer to Denver than Boulder. Mount Sanitas is near you, but haven't been there yet to comment on specifics.

I'm liking the looks of these suggestions so far, particularly Three Sisters, thanks guys! |

The Gill Boulder, and Eldo in general, might have what you are looking for. I don't remember a lot of hard stuff at Sanitas either. |

I am no expert but I wanted to weigh in on Mt. Sanitas.- there are some great V0-V2 problems that aren't highballs, (but a pad would help due to uneven landings) and some great traverse problems as well (north shelf traverse being my personal favorite) If you hike to the backside there look to be some fun slabs that one could warm up on too. If you live in Boulder I think it would be worth your time to check out- hope this helps- Feel free to shoot me a PM |

For anyone who finds this old thread through a search, I put a list of quality (IMO) and safe boulders together at frontrangemoderates.com. Hopefully you find it useful! |
